Yoshinobu Toide and his 60 inch Taimen

Here's the link to Yoshi's Taimen photos on picassa
Yoshinobu Toide's Mongolia Taimen Fishing Photos

Yoshi now holds our record for fly-caught taimen with the 150.5cm Taimen he caught this September. Thats just under 60 inches. We think the same fish had taken a look at Tom Gorman's presentation the week previously, but declined his offer. Big taimen don't get old by being stupid after all, and this fish could be anything from 40 to 50 years old. Yoshi caught this monster at dusk on a 'lenok' fly that I tied. Dusk is a good time for the big ones as they lower their guard and become more active in low light or at night.

Yoshi booked through our French agent, Planet Fly Fishing, with his friend and Taimen fishing veteran, Georges Lenzi. Here's the slideshow of his trip photos, including photos of the lenok that was swallowed by another large taimen earlier in the trip.
